To Good friends and Good Times ...... Cheers!
Let us introduce you ....Many good hours in the UK were spent in the company of our good friends, Carol and Andy and their 3 sons Danny, Ben and Tom who have all visited us in Rørvig and will be coming again next year.
Carol has known me since 9 years old- the longest of any non-family member. Somehow she still puts up with me and is a very loyal letter writer...hand-written letters for over 34 years! We enjoyed a beach barbeque, a visit to the National Marine Aquarium at Plymouth and dockside picnic and a lovely lunch at their place...and a few visits to the pub!
Not a friend, but he felt like one- the landlord of our favourite country pub with the captain at "The Church House Inn" on the river in Stoke Gabriel. We dinghyed up river past all the anchored yachts, green trees right down to the water and the home of Agatha Christie, now a National Trust property. The pub serves the best "Ploughman´s Lunch" (crusty homemade bread, home-cooked ham, a hunk of cheddar cheese, and pickled onions). Heaven. |
A lovely evening grilling hamburgers and sausages on board was spent in the company of Sally and Richard with children Vicki and Jamie.
Definitely future sailors if we can prise them away from their farm in a lovely valley in Devon. Sally is likewise a friend of almost 40 years!
And then there´s the Welsh lot! Known to many of you in Denmark, as they lived in Copenhagen for 5 years and have been frequent visitors since. Clair and Andrew with Mali, Twm and Branwyn (Danes note the lovely Welsh names..). A very game bunch who bravely bunked in with us on Havana for 2 nights. Clair is probably still swaying ...We spent a lovely day exploring Plymouth. Maybe we can persuade them to join us on Sicily next year...

Another kind of friend...my favourite place since childhood. Dartmouth - where we spent 4 wonderful days in the sunshine with spectacular views over the River Dart, the Royal Naval College and the yachty community. It is the place in the UK for yachts and it´s one of the most beautiful spots around. I will spare you the other 3000 pictures I took of it.....

On 07 August we made a 19 hour overnight crossing to Cherbourg, France. A beautiful calm and dry night with no problems. Since then, the weather has changed quite drastically with a series of depressions bringing gales, heavy rain and thunders and delays for us. Read on.....
